Lead a High-Volume Hospitality Operation on Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island, BC

On-Site

The Company

Our client is an established, independently owned hospitality organization located on Vancouver Island, known for delivering memorable guest experiences across food & beverage, accommodations, events, and leisure.

With a strong local following alongside a busy destination guest base, the organization combines the scale and complexity of a major hospitality operation with the autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit of an independent business.

The Opportunity

This is a role for someone who wants to do more than manage the floor — it’s an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a significant, high-volume restaurant operation.

As Restaurant Manager, you’ll lead the front-of-house team and oversee the full guest experience, balancing exceptional hospitality with strong operational and financial performance.

You’ll be highly visible within the business, developing your leadership team, strengthening service standards, managing labour and profitability, and building strong alignment between front and back of house.

If you’re a hands-on restaurant leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves developing people, and understands how to balance hospitality with commercial performance, this is that kind of role.

What You'll Own

  • Lead daily front-of-house operations across restaurant, lounge, bar, and seasonal service areas

  • Coach and develop Assistant Managers and a sizeable front-of-house team

  • Build consistent service standards, training, accountability, and performance expectations

  • Own labour planning, scheduling, inventory, operating expenses, and profitability

  • Maintain a visible leadership presence during high-volume service periods

  • Partner closely with culinary leadership to strengthen communication, execution, and the overall guest experience

  • Oversee beverage and bar operations, inventory controls, and responsible alcohol service

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, operating efficiency, guest satisfaction, and revenue

  • Support large parties, events, and changing business volumes

  • Maintain high standards for safety, cleanliness, compliance, and presentation

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive restaurant management experience

  • High-volume, full-service restaurant experience

  • Experience leading both management and hourly teams

  • Strong understanding of front-of-house, lounge, and bar operations

  • Demonstrated experience managing labour, scheduling, inventory, budgets, and profitability

  • A strong track record of coaching, training, and developing teams

  • Calm, confident decision-making in a fast-paced environment

  • A hands-on, guest-focused leadership style with strong communication skills

  • Experience within resorts, hotels, events, or similarly complex hospitality environments is an asset

  • Restaurant General Manager experience is an asset; strong Senior Restaurant Managers or Assistant General Managers ready for greater ownership will also be considered

  • Strong wine and beverage knowledge or WSET certification is an asset

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to lead a substantial hospitality operation where your impact will be visible across the team, guest experience, and overall performance of the business.

You’ll have the autonomy to strengthen the operation, develop future leaders, and create a more consistent and high-performing service environment.

  • High-volume, year-round hospitality environment

  • Meaningful ownership of people, service, revenue, costs, and profitability

  • Opportunity to develop and mentor an established leadership team

  • Collaborative partnership with senior food & beverage and culinary leadership

  • Independent environment with fewer corporate layers and room to contribute

  • Access to employee benefits, perks, and discounts

  • Opportunity to build your hospitality career in one of Vancouver Island’s most desirable communities

Outlier's Process

1

Apply

Submit your application through our online portal. A real human reviews every resume - no automated AI filtering here. We assess your experience, background, and alignment with current opportunities. If there’s a strong match, we’ll be in touch with next steps. If not, we keep your profile on file for future roles that may be a better fit. Depending on the scope of the search, Outlier may continue to manage the process end-to-end, or the client may take the lead directly from this point forward. In either case, we ensure a clear handoff and will let you know exactly what to expect next.

2

Outlier Interview

If your background aligns with what our client is looking for, we’ll schedule a live interview. This 30–45 minute conversation is designed to go beyond your resume. We’ll dig into your skills and experience, but more importantly, we want to hear your story - what motivates you, what you’re looking for next, and what makes you stand out. We also use this conversation to discuss compensation expectations upfront, ensuring alignment early and avoiding surprises later in the process.

3

Candidate Submission

Once we’ve met and confirmed alignment, shortlisted candidates are presented to our client. If selected to move forward, you’ll be asked to complete a short (10–15 minute) online assessment. This helps the client better understand your values, motivation, and work style, and supports a more thoughtful, well-rounded hiring decision.

4

Client Interviews and Beyond

Once candidates move forward, our clients review a well-rounded view of your profile — including your experience, our interview perspective, and assessment insights. From there, they identify who they’d like to meet directly. We act as an advocate and connector throughout, ensuring your strengths are clearly represented and that you’re supported with preparation, context, and timely feedback at every step. For finalist candidates, we further manage background checks, facilitate offers, and support on-boarding, providing support and acting as your coach right until the end.
