Outlier is hiring! Help Build the Next Generation of Recruitment

Western Canada

Remote

The Company

Outlier is a modern recruitment partner built for companies that want to stand out.

For decades, recruitment has operated on an outdated model with inflated fees - rigid, transactional, and built to prioritize speed over fit. But the world of work has changed. Access to talent is no longer the challenge. Building the right hiring process and employer brand is.

Outlier was built to bring a new standard to a dusty industry and reimagine what great hiring looks like.

We work with a growing roster of companies across food & beverage, hospitality, tourism, consumer products, wellness, non-profit and other people-driven industries, helping them make better hires through a highly personalized, hands-on search process.

From full cycle recruitment to strategic pipeline development and fractional leadership hiring, our consultative approach helps organizations strengthen their hiring process, elevate their employer brand, and compete for exceptional talent.

All with a model designed to deliver more value, at a fraction of the cost of traditional firms.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly organized, tech-savvy, detail-oriented person to join us part-time and help keep the operational side of the business running smoothly as we grow.

We’re still early in our growth story, which means this isn’t a role where you’ll step into a giant company with ten layers of approval and a 47-page SOP for ordering printer paper 🤪

You’ll work directly with our Founder + Lead Recruiter and take ownership of many of the operational details that sit behind every client search.

The environment is fun, informal, fast-moving and very low on corporate nonsense - all while executing at the highest levels to ensure a stand-out experience for both clients and candidates.

We care about doing great work, treating people well, being responsive, giving back, and building a company we actually enjoy working in.

The Founder is highly involved, moves quickly, has high standards and usually has several ideas in motion at once. If you’re the kind of person who likes bringing structure to that energy, we’ll probably get along very well.

The goal is simple: keep the business organized, keep things moving, and help create more capacity for Outlier to grow 🌱

What You'll Own

Client Onboarding

  • Coordinate new client onboarding, including information gathering, system setup, agreements and invoicing.

  • Track outstanding onboarding items and ensure everything is completed accurately and on time.

Search + Candidate Operations

  • Support candidate administration throughout the search process, including ATS updates, resume collection, references and assessments.

  • Maintain accurate, organized candidate and client records.

  • Support search close-out reporting, communications and feedback collection.

Website + Enquiries

  • Monitor and route incoming enquiries.

  • Maintain job and talent postings on the Outlier website.

  • Coordinate feedback & testimonials with the marketing team.

Systems + General Operations

  • Maintain templates, processes and recurring workflows.

  • Identify gaps, missing information or outstanding actions.

  • Help improve the systems and structure that keep the business running smoothly.

What You Bring

You’re probably someone who genuinely enjoys organization 🤓

You notice when something is missing. You follow things through. You like clean systems, clear processes and having things where they’re supposed to be.

You’re also comfortable working independently. This is not a role where someone will sit beside you all day assigning tasks one by one.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience in administration, operations, project coordination, recruitment support, executive support or a similar environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Confidence learning and working across different technology platforms.

  • Experience with a CRM, ATS or database system.

  • Good judgment when handling confidential client and candidate information.

  • The ability to manage multiple small priorities without losing track of the details.

Experience with RecruitCRM (or another ATS), FreshBooks, PandaDoc, SurveySparrow or similar platforms would be helpful, but we can teach you the systems.

Why This Role

Because you’ll get to help build something.

You won’t just be maintaining someone else’s systems - you’ll help develop and improve them.

You’ll have visibility across the entire business, work closely with the founder, and play an important role in creating the infrastructure behind a growing recruitment brand.

This role is also a great fit for someone who’s curious about recruitment and wants to learn how the business really works from the inside. You’ll get exposure to the systems, workflows, client processes and candidate operations that sit behind a successful search practice - almost like a hands-on incubator for understanding the foundations of modern recruitment. For someone interested in building a future in search, talent or recruitment, there’s a lot to learn here. There is also room for the role to expand over time as Outlier continues to grow.

If you like making things run better, enjoy being the person who quietly keeps everything on track, and want to be part of what we think is the next generation of recruitment, we’d love to hear from you.

Compensation & Total Rewards

Target hourly rate: $27-35/hour

Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week to start, with opportunity to increase as business grows.

Location: Fully remote. Ideally based in Western Canada on Pacific or Mountain time.

Hours can be structured with some flexibility, although we’ll need some availability during regular business hours for client and candidate-related work.

Please note - the salary range for this position is structured to reflect different stages of proficiency within the role. Compensation at the lower end applies to individuals developing core competencies, while higher compensation is associated with demonstrated expertise and sustained performance. Final offers are determined by the client based on candidate experience and organizational requirements.

Outlier's Process

1

Apply

Submit your application through our online portal. A real human reviews every resume - no automated AI filtering here. We assess your experience, background, and alignment with current opportunities. If there’s a strong match, we’ll be in touch with next steps. If not, we keep your profile on file for future roles that may be a better fit. Depending on the scope of the search, Outlier may continue to manage the process end-to-end, or the client may take the lead directly from this point forward. In either case, we ensure a clear handoff and will let you know exactly what to expect next.

2

Outlier Interview

If your background aligns with what our client is looking for, we’ll schedule a live interview. This 30–45 minute conversation is designed to go beyond your resume. We’ll dig into your skills and experience, but more importantly, we want to hear your story - what motivates you, what you’re looking for next, and what makes you stand out. We also use this conversation to discuss compensation expectations upfront, ensuring alignment early and avoiding surprises later in the process.

3

Candidate Submission

Once we’ve met and confirmed alignment, shortlisted candidates are presented to our client. If selected to move forward, you’ll be asked to complete a short (10–15 minute) online assessment. This helps the client better understand your values, motivation, and work style, and supports a more thoughtful, well-rounded hiring decision.

4

Client Interviews and Beyond

Once candidates move forward, our clients review a well-rounded view of your profile — including your experience, our interview perspective, and assessment insights. From there, they identify who they’d like to meet directly. We act as an advocate and connector throughout, ensuring your strengths are clearly represented and that you’re supported with preparation, context, and timely feedback at every step. For finalist candidates, we further manage background checks, facilitate offers, and support on-boarding, providing support and acting as your coach right until the end.
