The Company

Our client is a well-established Vancouver Island resort destination known for its oceanfront setting, strong guest loyalty, and broad mix of accommodations, wellness, dining, and conference offerings. With a long-standing reputation in the BC hospitality market, the property operates as a fully integrated, year-round resort serving leisure, wellness, group, and corporate guests alike.

The resort is entering a meaningful new chapter with continued investment in the property, a renewed focus on culinary and guest experience, and a broader operational evolution underway. For the right leader, this creates a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact executive role with the mandate to shape what comes next.

The Opportunity

This is a role for someone who wants more than incremental growth. As Director of Food & Beverage, you’ll lead the full strategic and operational direction of a large-scale resort F&B division spanning multiple outlets, banquets, and conference operations.

You’ll oversee a sizable team across culinary, service, and events, while partnering closely with senior leadership to elevate performance, rebuild culture, strengthen systems, and refine the overall guest experience. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on hospitality executive who thrives in complex environments, leads confidently through change, and wants genuine ownership over both the business and the future direction of the operation.

What You'll Own

Business & Operational Leadership
  • Own the financial and operational performance of a large multi-outlet food & beverage division

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost control, labour planning, and revenue optimization

  • Oversee restaurant, lounge, banquet, and event operations while ensuring service consistency across the resort

  • Strengthen systems, workflows, and operational infrastructure to improve efficiency and execution

Culinary, Guest Experience & Events
  • Partner closely with culinary leadership to elevate program quality, menu direction, and cost alignment

  • Help shape a stronger, more cohesive F&B identity across dining, spa, and group/event experiences

  • Support a high-volume banquet and conference operation, working cross-functionally to optimize both revenue and guest satisfaction

  • Ensure service standards and the overall guest experience remain consistently strong across all outlets and occasions

Leadership & Culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior operational leaders across culinary, outlets, and banquets

  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance across a large and diverse team

  • Act as a visible member of the leadership team, helping drive engagement, alignment, and organizational stability through a period of change

  • Contribute to broader resort strategy and act as a key partner to the General Manager and executive team

What You Bring

  • 7–10+ years of progressive food & beverage leadership experience in resorts, hotels, or other high-volume hospitality environments

  • Proven success overseeing multi-outlet operations, banquet/event programs, and large teams

  • Strong financial acumen across budgeting, forecasting, labour management, and cost control

  • Experience leading senior managers and building strong operational culture across complex teams

  • Confidence navigating change, transformation, or rebuild environments

  • A highly hands-on, floor-present leadership style with an ownership mentality

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving capability

  • Flexibility to work in a year-round resort environment that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Post-secondary education in hospitality, business, or management is considered an asset, as is culinary training or formal wine education.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where the mandate is not simply to maintain what exists, but to help build what comes next.

You’ll join a respected hospitality property with meaningful scale, strong market recognition, and a leadership team committed to elevating the food & beverage experience across the business. For the right operator, this role offers the rare combination of executive scope, visible impact, and a clear runway for continued growth into broader resort leadership.

Outlier's Process

1

Apply

Submit your application through our online portal. A real human reviews every resume - no automated AI filtering here. We assess your experience, background, and alignment with current opportunities. If there’s a strong match, we’ll be in touch with next steps. If not, we keep your profile on file for future roles that may be a better fit. Depending on the scope of the search, Outlier may continue to manage the process end-to-end, or the client may take the lead directly from this point forward. In either case, we ensure a clear handoff and will let you know exactly what to expect next.

2

Outlier Interview

If your background aligns with what our client is looking for, we’ll schedule a live interview. This 30–45 minute conversation is designed to go beyond your resume. We’ll dig into your skills and experience, but more importantly, we want to hear your story - what motivates you, what you’re looking for next, and what makes you stand out. We also use this conversation to discuss compensation expectations upfront, ensuring alignment early and avoiding surprises later in the process.

3

Candidate Submission

Once we’ve met and confirmed alignment, shortlisted candidates are presented to our client. If selected to move forward, you’ll be asked to complete a short (10–15 minute) online assessment. This helps the client better understand your values, motivation, and work style, and supports a more thoughtful, well-rounded hiring decision.

4

Client Interviews and Beyond

Once candidates move forward, our clients review a well-rounded view of your profile — including your experience, our interview perspective, and assessment insights. From there, they identify who they’d like to meet directly. We act as an advocate and connector throughout, ensuring your strengths are clearly represented and that you’re supported with preparation, context, and timely feedback at every step. For finalist candidates, we further manage background checks, facilitate offers, and support on-boarding, providing support and acting as your coach right until the end.
