Outlier is proud to support Potluck Café Society, a Vancouver organization creating meaningful employment and community for people facing barriers to work, while also helping address food insecurity in the Downtown Eastside.

Potluck operates through a powerful dual model: a registered charity that delivers vital community meal programs and social supports, alongside Potluck Catering, a mission-driven business whose revenues are reinvested directly back into those services. Together, the model creates a meaningful cycle of dignity, employment, and care.

Potluck’s work is especially aligned with Outlier’s belief in the power of employment to create stability, confidence, and long-term opportunity. Through its deeply inclusive hiring model, Potluck provides living-wage jobs in a supportive environment for individuals navigating barriers related to past addiction, mental health challenges, or housing insecurity — many of whom have previously relied on Potluck’s own programs.

As an organization rooted in the Downtown Eastside, with Indigenous leadership and employees represented throughout its workforce, Potluck doesn’t just serve the community - it is part of it, helping people move from survival to stability, and in many cases, toward a future where they can give back to the same community that once supported them.
